The CFR Credit Card - the end of “fun” shopping
The Covid crisis illustrated quite well that a large part of the population is addicted to “fun shopping”. One buys products of all sorts for “fun”. (because one gets bored?). This practice should be eradicated because it leads to utter waste generation and excessive footprinting of all sorts.
Therefore the concept of the CFR Credit Card is to be introduced: the Consumers Footprint Reducing Credit Card. The Consumers Footprint Reduction Card allows us, consumers from the rich Western countries (and other nouveau riches from developing countries), to consume a given amount of consumeables but not more than that.
So each consumer will have the right to footprint a given load relative to the Climate zone he/she lives in. All footprinting is combined : housing, heating, airo’s, cars, travelling, shopping for all those “necessities”,… the 5th pair of shoes, the 3th jeans this spring, the 3the jacket… in this season… .
The economy should be organized such that one cannot spend more money than a given amount (to be determined, I know) … implying that accumulating Dollars and Euros serves no purpose because one can’t buy anything with it….
The surplus of money can only be redistributed and will be used to fund climate actions, concept of basic income, education (of especially girls) in developing countries, micro business funding, birth control, cleaning up rivers and waste dumps….
The CFR Credit Card is part of the re-education of the population discussed in the topic “Steering consumption patterns”
